In 1869, his great-grandfather Benjamin Kent, established Kent Jewellers on Yonge Street where he built a reputation as one of Toronto's premier jewellers. At a location not far from where Benjamin established his first store, Geoffrey Kent carries on this family tradition of excellence, but with a slight twist. |

"My great-grandfather established a traditional retail business which operated for almost 100 years. While I had some training in the retail business, I was never really sold on the idea of being a retailer. I decided that I far more enjoyed dealing with my clients on a private basis to produce unique items for them." This is very different than being a conventional retailer who carries inventory and wishes to sell it. With custom work, everything starts as an idea - sometimes on paper - and ends up as a finished product.
Clients of Kent Recognition are assisted with the purchase of trophies, awards and benefit from the full service offered including engraving, etching and custom design. Several prominent golf clubs and sports organizations are also clients whose trophy and award requirements are all looked after by Kent Recognition. "We assist many organizations, including The Hockey Hall of Fame, Woodbine Entertainment, Nortel Networks, McCain Foods Limited, Upper Canada College, Magna Golf Club and Beacon Hall Golf Club. They all have different requirements throughout the year, but our ability to meet their special needs is one of our great strengths," says Geoffrey. "The attention to detail for this type of work is critical because almost 100% of the pieces we provide are engraved or decorated in some form. There are always presentation deadlines, and if the work is not done properly and on time, then there is a problem." This expertise and service is what distinguishes Kent Recognition.
You will find Geoffrey Kent's favourite expression on his business card. Although he did not write it, he thinks it is truly outstanding in its simplicity. It reads, "The best costs more to make. I would rather explain the quality than apologise for its absence." Kent Recognition
